Abstract of talk:
I will discuss the role of phenomenological reflection in recent psychological accounts of cognitive control. In particular, I will discuss recent models of cognitive control resource allocation that emphasize a role for the experience of cognitive effort. I will argue that the phenomenology of cognitive control is more complex than these models thus far allow, and that this fact should influence the experiments we perform and the models of cognitive control that we construct.
