Hosted by the Centre for Indigenous Support and Community Engagement, the fourth annual Kinàmàgawin Symposium will be held in person on Thursday, March 16, 2023. The day-long symposium includes keynote speakers, panel discussions and a cultural performance —all focused on this year’s theme: Accessing the Academy: A Four Directions Approach.
Now in its fourth year, the Kinàmàgawin Symposium addresses timely topics—chosen by Indigenous students—relevant to Indigenous peoples and empowers students, staff and faculty at Carleton to further their knowledge and become a positive force for change.
This year’s theme, Accessing the Academy: A Four Directions Approach, refers to looking at educational institutions and exploring the spiritual, emotional, physical and mental access to education. By approaching western institutions through an Indigenous perspective, we can continue to strive to make campuses a safer space for First Nation, Métis and Inuit community members.
