Course design and teaching and intentional, purposeful activities that require planning and reflection. Three foundational components of the course design are learning objectives (outcomes), teaching/learning activities, and assessment. Course alignment reflects a strong link between all three elements.
Why should we be concerned about alignment? How can we estimate course alignment? In this workshop, we will discuss these questions and introduce the framework and practical aid you can use to examine and enhance your course alignment. Based on this examination, you will be able to decide where and how to improve your course design and delivery.
You will leave the session with an awareness of the importance of course alignment and of the framework, resources, and practical tools that can help you design courses that provide students with an opportunity to learn, achieve and demonstrate learning outcomes that you have planned and based your course design on.
This session is intended for all participants who are involved in designing learning experiences, in any delivery format.
