Most student assignments end up in the trash after they’re graded. Although the students learned things in doing the assignments, wouldn’t it be great if they had more uses? We will discuss the idea of non-disposable assignments, led by Cognitive Science professor Jim Davies, who will report on his classroom experimentation with his teaching philosophy, “Don’t Waste Student Work,” and what kind of assignments can help the students after the course is over, future students, the scholarly community, or even the world at large.
