Workshop “Reassessing Economic Security: The EU’s Strategy, Transatlantic Challenges, and Opportunities for Canada-EU Cooperation”

This workshop will explore the European Union’s (EU) economic security priorities in a rapidly evolving global and transatlantic context, and will feature discussions on these two key themes:

-The EU’s Economic Security Strategy: what it is, why it was developed, how it has performed to date, and how does it need to adapt to U.S. economic and security threats?
-Canada-EU Cooperation: how can and should both partners work together to enhance their shared economic security in light of Trump’s return to the White House?

Presenters include: Wolfgang Alschner, (University of Ottawa); Marie Beaux (French Embassy in Canada); Mark Camilleri (Business Council of Canada); Simon Evenett (University of St Gallen); Elvire Fabry (Jacques Delors Institute); Francesca Ghiretti (RAND); David Plunkett (International Trade Consultant); and Niclas Poitiers (Bruegel).

This event is co-organized by Crina Viju, Director and Associate Professor, Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies, Carleton University and Patrick Leblond, Professor and CN-Paul M. Tellier Chair in Business and Public Policy, University of Ottawa.
