Canadian Workers in/against the Climate Crisis

Workers are implicated in the climate crisis in contradictory ways. They are victims of extreme weather and the economic hardship caused by anthropogenic global warming, but, as consumers and through the polluting industries they serve, they also contribute to the very crisis that harms them. These contradictions are only heightened in a resource-rich country like Canada, where extractive and fossil-fuel industries provide many well-paying jobs while potentially undermining decarbonization efforts and the viability of other types of livelihoods. What strategies and tools are most effective for building broad-based solidarity needed to face the enormous challenge that is a world on fire? What is the role of workers, class politics, and transitional justice in confronting this crisis?
