Film Studies 50th Anniversary

Thursday, October 1, 2026 from 5:45 pm to 8:30 pm

Fifty years of Carleton Film Studies calls for a celebration — and what better place than Ottawa’s beloved Mayfair Theatre?

Join us for an evening of reconnecting, remarks, and a free screening of I Like Movies (Chandler Levack, 2022) — a film that ends, happily, at Carleton.

5:45 Doors open — snack bar open, catch up with old friends
6:15 Anniversary remarks from Film Studies faculty and special guests
6:45 Free screening: I Like Movies (Content advisory: themes of suicide and mental distress)

Donations welcome in support of sending Carleton Film Studies students to the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2027.

Accessibility: The Mayfair Theatre is a heritage building that opened its doors in 1932. As such, the theatre’s wheelchair accessibility is limited. The accessible door is located on Euclid Ave., past the Quinn’s patio. There is a lip and a downgrade going into the theatre. The washrooms, candy bar and main lobby are not wheelchair accessible.
