Dr. Laura Cowen: I have been dancing around EDI issues for much of my career. However, I finally started actively working on these issues in 2017 preparing for our departmental Academic Program Review. This review catalyzed the formation of our Department EDI committee. Later, as Associate Dean Research for the Faculty of Science at UVic, I founded our EDI council. I will discuss EDI activities that we have undertaken at UVic at the Department level, the Faculty level, and within my lab. I hope that we can end this talk with a lively discussion.
