As we head into a new term, we realize that there are many things for students (and faculty) to be anxious about and this can sometimes produce some tensions in the classroom.
To get ahead of such possible situations we are hosting an online conversation, “Dealing with Conflict in the Classroom” on September 16th from 10 to 11:30. This conversation will be facilitated by Dillon Brady (Manager, Student Conduct), Melanie Chapman (Ombuds Office) and Lane Bourbonnière (Indigenous Curricula Learning Specialist). This is an opportunity to get general information on the processes involved should a situation arise, as well as some advice on ways to de-escalate.
NOTE: there will be no discussion of actual cases but lots of opportunity for questions about best practices and the kinds of support each of these offices can provide.
Once you register, the zoom link will be sent to you.
