Are you interested in curating? Do you know about the one-year graduate diploma in Curatorial Studies now being offered at Carleton? Applications are currently being accepted for Fall 2020 enrolment (Deadline to apply: March 15).

Did you know that Curatorial Studies students have completed practicum placements in France, Mexico, and Italy as well as in the National Capital Region in areas as diverse as fine art, historical costuming, music, and fish biology? Come and find out more at our information session! No RSVP required, and light refreshments will be served.

Galleries, museums, memorials, and interpretation centres are how we as a society define ourselves, our histories, our identities, our values, and the spaces we occupy in the public sphere. Curators play a major role in shaping that discourse, through collections, exhibitions, performances, and sites of memory that provide space for public debate, engagement, and reflection.

As featured in Maclean’s 2018 College and University Program Guide, Carleton’s Graduate Diploma in Curatorial Studies offers students both the disciplinary expertise and applied skills sought by today’s cultural institutions. Our interdisciplinary program spans the arts, social sciences, and sciences, exposing students to a wide range of museological and curatorial issues. Students will gain first-hand experience as curators, co-curating an exhibit in a proseminar with their peers. Combining theoretical engagement in the classroom, site visits in the National Capital Region, and hands-on experience in the practicum and proseminar course, this program gives students a well-rounded education that enables them to jump-start their careers.
