The Royal Canadian Geographical Society and Canadian Geographic Education, in partnership with the University of Ottawa, Carleton University, the Canadian Association of Geographers, and Natural Resources Canada, would like to invite you to a special event happening at 50 Sussex Drive under the theme: “Why geography?”

On Wednesday Nov. 14, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., we will be hosting a panel discussion and social hour dedicated to a conversation about the who, what, where, when and WHY of geography in the 21st century. Our host, Diz Glithero, will be sharing some of her experiences in encouraging national geographic awareness. Our panel will be composed of educators in geography-related fields at the primary, secondary and post-secondary levels, as well as professionals in the workplace, geography enthusiasts working in the field, students pursuing higher education in the fields of geography and environment, and experts in GIS technology. After the panel discussion, there will be a social hour during which all participants are encouraged to find an expert in their field of interest and ask them their most pressing geography questions! Snacks, refreshments, door prizes and fun activities will be offered. Please join us for a free, bilingual, entertaining evening, and be sure to invite your friends and family!

Please register for the event. Everyone who registers will be entered into a contest to win their very own copy of the Indigenous Peoples Atlas of Canada!
