El Jones, prison justice activist and former Halifax poet laureate, will be giving a free public talk in downtown Ottawa on Monday, March 25. El will be speaking about prisoner resistance in Nova Scotia, and the work of The Black Power Hour – a radio collective with prisoners. El will also share poetry written with prisoners about the justice system in Canada and prison abolition. In addition to her prison justice work and poetry, El is Nancy’s Chair in Women’s Studies at Mount Saint Vincent University.
