Seminar Title - Overcoming the Many Hurdles to Making Therapies Viral
Abstract: Viruses, once the cause of devastating diseases, are now powerful tools in combating illness, serving as vaccines and treatments for genetic diseases and cancer through advanced genetic engineering. Among these, oncolytic viruses hold significant promise but face challenges such as clinical resistance and manufacturing bottlenecks. Biomanufacturing remains a critical obstacle for all virus-based therapies. Dr. Diallo and his team have been at the forefront of developing small molecules to overcome these barriers, enhancing the effectiveness of oncolytic viruses and improving the production of viral vectors and vaccines. Their decade-long research has not only driven innovative commercial applications but also provided valuable insights into antiviral defense mechanisms, paving the way for more effective viral therapies.
