You are invited to the inaugural Author Meets Readers

This event is meant to reach out to the community to showcase some of the interesting books that are being produced in the Faculty of Public Affairs. It gives you a chance to learn about these books from leaders in the field and to ask questions, all in an informal and fun setting.

Our first event will feature a book that titled
Alternative Media in Canada
The Author, Kirsten Kozolanka, will be in attendance along with a stellar panel including:
Prof. Karim Karim, Carleton University School of Journalism and Communication
Katrina Marsh, co-founder of the popular blog Apartment 613
Karl Nerenberg, parliamentary correspondent and contributor to Rabble.ca

About the book:
Alternative Media in Canada challenges the notion of what media is, its role in policy and society, and why it matters to everyone who consumes mass media. This path-breaking volume gets to the heart of this question by focusing on the three interconnected dimensions that define alternative media in Canada: structure, participation, and activism.

About the Author(s):
Kirsten Kozolanka is an associate professor in the School of Journalism and Communication at Carleton University in Ottawa. Co-authors Patricia Mazepa and David Skinner are both associate professors in the Department of Communication Studies at York University in Toronto.
