Becoming our own best selves is never easy. How do we find and define our identities? What does it mean to be a woman? Or a man? What can we change? What happens to our most important relationships when we do change?

Based on real stories, Trans-Script follows a small group of characters over the course of a few months as they adapt to changes and find new truths about themselves. The stories and characters of Trans-Script pose an essential question: “Is love enough?”

Trans-Script is the fourth piece of original theatre produced by Faith and Arts Ottawa, part of a community education program that began as a vehicle for “publishing” the research of Carleton University’s Tom Sherwood in Fringe Festival productions. The company decided to leave The Fringe this year in order to take this play about sexuality, gender, identity and relationships out into the community, and engage in audience talkbacks after each 50-minute performance. The company includes several educators from across the city. Three of the six actors are Carleton alumni. Rosemary Nolan, a young high school teacher, is the director and co-author. Nolan and Sherwood will participate in the talkback.

While this is a free event, cash donations can be made at performances. Cheques can also be mailed to Faith and Arts Ottawa. Please visit faithandartsottawa.org for more information.
