About this Event

Host Organization: Co-sponsored by the Faculty of Science and School of Journalism

The Web and social media offer unprecedented connectivity but, without conscious effort, can insulate people from everyone but "friends" and from ideas that might challenge strongly-held beliefs.

In the 2016 Discovery Lecture, blogger and Pace University communications professor Andrew Revkin will describe extraordinary innovations showing how bottom-up and peer-to-peer communication can fill gaps as old information gatekeepers, from sage broadcasters to newspaper front pages (to university professors) lose influence. Co-sponsored by the Faculty of Science and School of Journalism.
