A special lecture, "The EU’s Global Strategy: Is It Up to the Challenge?" with Dr. Antonio Missiroli, Director, EU Institute for Security Studies.
About the lecture: The EU Global Strategy, adopted by the European Council in June 2016, identified common interests, principles, and priorities with the aim of instilling in its member states a “unity of purpose” which would lead to “unity in action.” Dr. Missiroli will discuss where the EU stands now – between external and internal challenges, with a particular emphasis on its foreign and security policy. A roundtable discussion will follow the lecture with Prof. Joan DeBardeleben, Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies (EURUS), who will serve as the Chair and Prof. David Long, Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA) and Prof. Alexandra Gheciu, Public and International Affairs, University of Ottawa, who will be respondents. There will be a question and answer period with audience participation.
