Join two of Canada’s leading data journalists (CBC's David McKie and CTV's Glen McGregor) for intensive hands-on instruction with the essential tools for working with electronic records. Participants will learn to use spreadsheets, mapping and other software to turn raw data into stories. The course will emphasize the particular skills reporters and communicators need in order to develop innovative and intriguing ways to use data. Participants will leave with a long list of ideas for data stories they can take back to their newsrooms and organizations. Computers and software used in the sessions will be provided.
