Join the EDC and professors Ben Gianni and Adje van de Sande for a teaching roundtable as they highlight how they have been integrating Community Engaged Pedagogy (CEP) into their architecture and social work courses.

CEP aims to develop students’ skills through a combination of community work and classroom learning, creating linkages between academic study and the larger public life.

Professor Gianni will describe how the university can be used as a “safe” environment for parties who are potentially on opposite sides of issues, using three projects from his course as examples.

Professor van de Sande will focus on his course, Research and Evaluation in Social Work, which places a strong emphasis on a community-based participatory approach to research. Through this course, students have completed over 100 research projects for community organizations in the last nine years.

A pizza lunch will be served.
