Learning to write in a variety of genres is challenging for students. Academic writing is not the same as writing for the web. Or is it? And, if it is, how can we teach students to write in a way that is scholarly and appropriate for web–based projects?

This workshop will introduce three simple rules for teaching students to write content for online projects that bridges the online and academic worlds (e.g., projects based in cuPortfolio).

You will have the opportunity to apply one of these tips in a group-based writing exercise and will leave the workshop with a good understanding of what makes good web-based writing and how to work with your students to provide them with clear guidelines for doing so.

This workshop is a good choice for instructors who wish to make experiential learning part of student engagement in their classes.
