Learning to write in a variety of genres is challenging for students. Academic writing is not the same as writing for the web. Or is it? And, if it is, how can we teach students to write in a way that is scholarly and appropriate for web-based projects?
This workshop will introduce three simple rules for teaching students to write content for online projects that bridges the online and academic worlds.
Katherine Snow, BJ, is a second-year master’s student in the School of Indigenous and Canadian Studies. Martha Attridge Bufton, MA, MLIS, is a subject specialist with the MacOdrum Library. Both have experience writing academically as well as for the web and in this interactive workshop they will explain the basics of writing for the web and how you can guide your students to writing material that is readable, evidence-based and engaging.
