Linda Trimble is a Professor in the Political Science Department at the University of Alberta, where she teaches courses on Canadian government, research design and methods, media representations of gender, and media and politics in Canada. Her research investigates news coverage of women politicians, especially party leadership candidates and government leaders. Recent publications include: “Julia Gillard and the Gender Wars,” (Politics & Gender 2015); “Politicizing Bodies: Hegemonic Masculinity, Heteronormativity, and Racism in News Representations of Canadian Political Party Leadership Contests” (Women’s Studies in Communication, 2015), and “Is it Personal? Gendered Mediation in Newspaper Coverage of Canadian National Party Leadership Contests” (International Journal of Press/Politics, 2013). A forthcoming book titled Ms. Prime Minister: Gender, Media and Leadership, is under contract with University of Toronto Press.
