Kenneth C. Dewar has chosen Carleton to launch his biography entitled Frank Underhill and the Politics of Ideas (McGill-Queen's Press, 2015).
The Department of History has long benefited from the book collection of leading historian of ideas and public intellectual Frank Hawkins Underhill. Upon his death in 1971, the Underhill reading Room was established and in cooperation with Dr. Blair Neatby, an endowment was established in his memory for the purchase of new books and the support of special projects, including the annual graduate colloquium.
