Why We Find Things Interesting with Carleton's Dr. Jim Davies

Jim Davies, of the Institute of Cognitive Science at Carleton University and director of the Science of Imagination Laboratory, will discuss the science behind why some things seem to resonate with our minds and others do not. Why do we get hooked on a hockey game, or to a novel? Why do some religious stories seem so meaningful? Drawing from research from psychology, biology, computer science, and more, Davies will explain the underlying psychological traits human beings have that serve as the foundation for all things compelling

Co-hosted by Carleton’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the Department of University Advancement, as part of its CU in the City lecture series, this lecture is the second CU in the City event to be held in Toronto at the historic Arts and Letters Club.

This is a free event open to all Carleton alumni, donors and friends.

Please join us for an open reception at 6:00 p.m. featuring hot and cold hors' d'oeuvres and cash bar. The presentation will begin at 7:00 p.m.
