Canada’s economic history is closely tied to international trade. After a lull following the FTA with the US and NAFTA, the international trade policy agenda has been re-energized in recent years. The agreement with the EU–CETA–and the recent signing of the Trans-Pacific Partnership are modern and comprehensive agreements, and represent significant steps forward, but with adjustment implications for some sectors.

How did we get to this point? What are the implications for business and the economy? And with a new Liberal federal government, what’s next?
