About this Event

Host Organization: Department of Economics

A public presentation by Pedro Antunes, Executive Director, Economic Outlook and Analysis, and Deputy Chief Economist, The Conference Board of Canada

The decline in oil prices and many other commodity prices is having important implications in Canada and around the world. Fortunately, the U.S. economy seems to be firing on all cylinders and this, coupled with a weaker loonie, should provide growth opportunities for Canadian firms. Pedro Antunes leads the Conference Board's economic forecast team. During this session, he will discuss the Conference Board's latest economic outlook. Specifically, he will discuss risks to the global outlook and take a closer look at what's driving the strength in the U.S. economy. Pedro will also discuss Canada's labour markets and opportunities for youth employment.

A major joint event sponsored by the Carleton Undergraduate Economics Society and the Carleton Graduate Economics Society, and part of FPA Research Month.

Pizza and soft-drink reception in River Building Atrium, followed by presentation in RB 2224-2228.

Financial support provided by FPA, Department of Economics, CUSA, and GSA.
