A group of us participating in The Carleton Leader program are exploring the issue of cross-campus collaboration, and more specifically, collaboration between faculty and staff at Carleton. We've noted successful collaborations recently on campus, such as the Strategic Integrated Plan committee (composed of faculty members and professional services staff) leading to a greater sense of our common mission at the university and achieving some of our goals together.

We wanted to learn more about faculty-staff collaboration and so we decided to start with a conversation.

So far we have conducted a few roundtable discussions with faculty and staff and discussed some questions around this issue. For instance we asked participants: why should we collaborate? Which situations or contexts warrant faculty-staff collaboration? What are the obstacles to collaboration? In doing so, we received some very interesting and thought provoking answers to our questions so we decided to continue the conversation by sharing what we learned with groups of faculty and staff.

We'd now like to hear about what you think of some of these questions as well as some of your experiences (success stories or frustrations) regarding faculty-staff collaborations. We're also interested in hearing some solutions that will help foster increased faculty-staff collaboration at Carleton University.

Join us on May 8th in 2017 Dunton Tower (FASS Lounge) and take part in the conversation. Feel free to bring your lunch as this is a brown-bag event. Do not hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any questions or comments.
