Cities Leading the Way: Climate leadership through municipal governments, infrastructure and energy efficiency
The new federal Liberal government has made significant commitments with respect to both environmental stewardship and infrastructure development. With COP 21 close at hand and the world looking to Canada to join the search for solutions, the links between infrastructure investments and energy efficiency are crucial to successful environmental stewardship.
Mr. Brock Carlton, CEO of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM), will argue that municipal governments in Canada are integral to our national solutions. This talk will explore the links between local infrastructure and energy efficiency. It will also explore some of the innovative work being done at the local level in Canada as our municipalities take action in the search for energy efficiency.
Mr. Carlton leads a strong team of FCM staff and a united membership in advancing municipal interests by influencing both federal government decisions and national debates on issues critical to communities. Under Mr. Carlton’s tenure, the municipal sector in Canada has seen dramatic increases in federal investments, as well as recognition for the vital role it plays in our national interest. He has lived in Kenya, China and Namibia, and has a B.A. from Western and an M.A. in International Affairs from the Norman Patterson School at Carleton.
