“Art Deco in Context: Cosmopolitanism, Class, and Culture between the Wars” is a three-day event based in Ottawa that brings together scholars, curators, and heritage professionals working on cutting-edge research on the interwar design idiom known today under the moniker Art Deco.

The event begins on Friday, February 6 with a tour of the Embassy of France followed by plenary sessions held at Carleton University, involving invited international and local academics, curators, and heritage policy makers. On February 7, participants will take part in material culture workshops at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum, interpreting artefacts from its sister museum, the Canada Science and Technology Museum. The final day, February 8, involves a bus trip to Montreal to examine Art Deco architecture firsthand.

Registration is required for each activity and numbers are limited. There is no fee to register.
