In 1967, the Department of Law and Legal Studies emerged as the first unit in Canada to study law within an interdisciplinary context. Since then, it has grown to offer the largest and most extensive undergraduate and graduate programs in legal studies in the country.
To mark the launch of its anniversary celebrations this year, a special reception will be held on campus on the afternoon of January 18th, where past and current department staff, faculty, contract instructors, students, alumni, and other esteemed guests will be present to join in recognizing 50 years of innovation and excellence. President Roseann O'Reilly Runte will be in attendance to honour the department’s achievements with a few opening remarks, followed by a warm welcome from the Chair of the department, Prof. Ron Saunders.
